89.7 KSGN
89.7 KSGN is a family-friendly radio station based in the Inland Empire of Southern California. They’re the only local station sharing inspirational music and uplifting stories of faith. After diving deep into market research, they discovered their brand wasn't hitting the mark with their listeners. So, 89.7 KSGN partnered with Eric Axelson Studio to redesign the logo and create a vibrant visual identity system that would help carry them into a new stage.

The logo draws inspiration from the vibrations of sound and the sunshine of Southern California. Its radiating rings symbolize the spreading of light and good news, all reflecting 89.7 KSGN’s mission and purpose. The logotype has similar circular shapes, creating a cohesive and unified design.

The vibrant color palette evokes a sense of joy and inspiration, encouraging people to leave the past behind and look forward to the future. The brand patterns further enhance and solidify the visual identity. The mark can be repeated, enlarged, and stacked to create dynamic and unexpected compositions.

The brand typeface is Cina GEO, a robust and legible sans serif by Public Type. It’s an approachable and versatile font that harmonizes with the circular nature of the mark. The typeface also contains a wide collection of lively and playful icons, offering plenty of creative opportunities.

Brand guidelines were developed to support their creative work, capturing everything discovered about the organization, including their new visual assets. Over time, the guide will ensure they maintain a consistent verbal and visual style. It will also help them produce innovative and vibrant designs to bring the 89.7 KSGN brand to life.

In addition to the new identity and brand guidelines, we created a variety of printed materials, including apparel, business stationery, tote bags, postcards, bumper stickers, pens, and more.

After launching the new identity, it was recognized by Fonts in Use and featured on social media by Public Type.
